What kind of paint do you use? Is it safe for children's skin?

Safety is our top priority! We use only premium, cosmetic-grade, professional face paints and glitters that are FDA-compliant, non-toxic, and specifically designed for sensitive skin. They are essentially makeup, not actual paint, making them completely safe and comfortable for children.

How do we remove the face paint?

Removing our paint is quick and easy! All you need is mild liquid soap (like baby shampoo or dish soap) and a damp cloth or sponge. Gently massage the soap onto the painted areas before adding water to break down the makeup, then rinse with warm water. Repeat if necessary.

How many kids can you paint in an hour?

To ensure every child gets a beautiful, professional design they love, we typically paint about 10 to 12 children per hour for full-face designs. If you have a larger crowd (like a community festival), we can offer simplified, fast-paced cheek and eye designs to accommodate up to 15 to 20 children per hour.

Do you paint children of all ages? What if a child is too scared?

We love painting children of all ages, but we generally recommend it for children 2 years old and up. For toddlers or children who are a bit nervous, we never force them! We are happy to start with a tiny stencil or a small design on their arm or hand so they can see how fun and gentle it is. If they decide they aren't ready, we happily cheer them on from the sidelines!

What do you need the host to provide on the day of the event?

We bring almost everything we need to create the magic, including our glitters, and mirrors. All we ask from the host is a well-lit space (preferably shaded if outdoors) and access to a clean water source. As we are starting out at the moment, we would greatly appreciate it if you could provide us a table and two chairs. We will arrive about 15–20 minutes before our scheduled start time to set up so we are ready to paint right on time!

About me

Hi! My name is Serene, the owner of Grins and Glitter. My journey with face painting started with a single brush stroke at my very first job. From the moment I saw the pure excitement on a child’s face after looking in the mirror, I knew I had found my passion. I absolutely loved interacting with the kids, hearing their stories.

Over the years, my path kept leading me back to working with children. I have been incredibly fortunate to work with youth in various meaningful roles, including serving as a dedicated youth worker and a part-time teacher. Every single one of these experiences reinforced how much I enjoy working with children and how vital it is to nurture their creativity and happiness.

Now, I am turning that lifelong passion into a business! I wanted to start and expand my services to bring even more joy to children through the power of art.
